Rotary International is a world-wide humanitarian organization whose motto is “Service above self”. Since 1905, RI supports Rotary clubs worldwide by coordinating global programs, campaigns, and initiatives.Rotary clubs bring together dedicated individuals, professionals and business people; to exchange ideas, build relationships, and take action in providing humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.It is a secular organization open to all people regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, or political preference.Rotary in Ethiopia has been serving the community since 1955 G.C. Currently there are 22 Rotary clubs in Ethiopia. Some of these Rotary clubs have a daughter Rotaract clubs with members between the age of 18 – 30 and Interact clubs with members between the age of 12 to 18.
